Samyukta Kisan Morcha to hold talks with farmer groups on December 21

Chandigarh: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced today that it will engage in talks with leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha in Patiala on December 21.

The move comes in response to a call by farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, urging unity in the farmers’ struggle.

Pandher had earlier written to the SKM on December 15, seeking its support for the ongoing agitation at Shambhu and Khanauri borders on the Punjab-Haryana border. The protestors are demanding, among other things, a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Following Pandher’s appeal, key SKM leaders, including Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Jangvir Singh Chauhan, Manjit Singh Dhaner, and Harwinder Singh Lakhowal, convened a meeting today to discuss the matter.

After the meeting, Ugrahan confirmed that talks would be held with the two farmer groups on December 21 in Patiala. He also announced that SKM would stage protests against the Central and Punjab governments at all district headquarters on December 23 to highlight the farmers’ issues.
