Sarpanch suspended for cutting a tree without permission in Punjab
The Director Rural Development and Panchayats Department, Punjab has suspended Maninder Kaur, sarpanch of Singhpura village near Ghanauli, for allegedly cutting a tree without permission. The action was taken by the Panchayat Department while disposing of a writ petition 20386 of 2023 filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the illegal felling of a tree by a resident of village Karnail Singh, resident of Singhpura.
Disclosing this here today, complainant Karnail Singh said that the pine tree standing in his village was cut down by the favorites of Sarpanch Maninder Kaur without the necessary departmental permission, in which he had earlier complained to the Panchayat Department and the District Administration, but the Sarpanch escaped action due to her influence. After which he had to move the High Court. He said the court had directed the panchayat department to take action against sarpanch Maninder Kaur.
