Schools and colleges to remain closed on Tuesday, administration declares holiday

Chandigarh: Ahead of the marriage anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Mata Sulakhani, Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur convened a crucial meeting with police and civil administration officials in Batala. Several significant decisions were made during the meeting to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

One of the key issues discussed was the installation of large music systems on tractors during the celebrations. SGPC employees suggested limiting this practice and curbing the disruptive behavior of youth on motorcycles. The civil administration supported these concerns and vowed to address them.

To maintain the sanctity of the occasion, it was decided that all liquor and meat shops in Batala would remain closed on September 10. Additionally, a local holiday has been declared for the day.

Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur assured that special arrangements would be in place to ensure there is no inconvenience to the local community or visitors. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone causing disruptions, including those creating a ruckus with motorcycles or tractors.
