SGPC forms committee to investigate allegations against Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh
Ludhiana: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has constituted a three-member sub-committee to investigate allegations against Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh.
The decision was taken during an emergency meeting held at Gurdwara Degsar Sahib Katana on Thursday, chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
The allegations were brought to light in a complaint filed by Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Muktsar Sahib, who accused the Jathedar of serious misconduct.
A spokesperson for the SGPC stated that the investigation is critical to maintaining the dignity of the office of Singh Sahib.
The sub-committee, comprising SGPC senior vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, general secretary Sher Singh Mandwala, and interim member Daljit Singh Bhinder, has been tasked with conducting a detailed inquiry and submitting its report within 15 days.
Meanwhile, it was decided that the Chief Granthi of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib would continue to operate under the jurisdiction of Takht Sahib until the inquiry report is finalized and a decision is reached.
