SGPC passes resolution to repeal Haryana Gurdwara Act

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) convened a special session of Parliament and demanded that the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act, 2014 be repealed.

A six-member committee has also been set up to interact with various parties in the country and members of both houses of Parliament to raise their voice against the forcible demolition of the SGPC, the constitutional body of the Sikhs.
The special general session was convened at Teja Singh Samundari Hall here today, which was attended by members of the Shiromani Committee, members of the Dharam Prachar Committee, Jathedars of the Takhts and SGPC members belonging to the opposition.
The General Assembly passed a resolution condemning the forcible occupation of the management of the historic gurdwaras by the Haryana government and its designated ad-hoc gurdwara committee. Talking to reporters, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the meeting also passed a resolution against the injustice and oppression meted out to the minorities by the BJP government.
In the session, various speakers condemned the ad-hoc committee nominated by the Haryana government for breaking the locks of the golaks of the Guru ghars, taking the police with shoes inside the guru ghars and pushing the sangat out of the guru’s house and opposed such anti-Sikh actions of the governments.
