Six Congress councillors expelled in Bathinda for supporting AAP
Chandigarh: Former Punjab Congress minister and PCC disciplinary committee chairman Avtar Henry has expelled six councillors from Bathinda for five years over alleged anti-party activities.
The councillors—Anita Goyal, Sonia, Mamata, Kiran Rani, Suresh Kumar, and Vikram Kranti—were accused of voting for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during the Bathinda Municipal Corporation elections.
Henry said that a complaint had been received during the mayoral election, alleging that some Congress councillors had supported AAP instead of their own party, allowing AAP to secure the Bathinda seat despite lacking a majority.
Following the complaint, show-cause notices were issued to 19 councillors. While 13 responded, six failed to do so, leading to their expulsion. The Congress high command has been informed of the development.
