Sukhbir Badal criticizes rebel faction for forming new party ahead of Maghi Jor Mela
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal strongly criticized leaders of the rebel faction forming a new political party ahead of the Maghi Jor Mela convention at Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab.
Addressing the issue, Badal accused the opposition of treating politics as a business, contrasting it with the Badal family’s approach, which he described as “politics as service.” He noted, “During the Lok Sabha elections, these leaders claimed they would avoid politics but are now busy forming a new party.”
Badal alleged that conspiracies were being hatched to undermine the Akali Dal. He also targeted Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, accusing him of failing to engage with his constituency after his victory and neglecting to thank voters. Badal urged party supporters to strengthen the Akali Dal to uphold Punjab’s supremacy.
In his remarks, Badal stressed that leadership requires sustained effort, saying, “No leader can be made in a day; one must struggle hard.” Highlighting the state’s deteriorating law and order situation, he pointed out incidents of gangsters extorting money and bombs being thrown at police stations.
Calling the Akali Dal “a party of gurus,” Badal reiterated his commitment to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stating, “For me and Akali Dal, Sri Akal Takht Sahib is supreme.” He questioned whether the rebel leaders forming a new party shared the same allegiance to Sikh values and institutions.
