Sukhbir Singh Badal re-elected as SAD president
Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal was unanimously re-elected as the party’s president during a delegate session held at Teja Singh Samundri Hall.
His name was proposed by SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder and endorsed by Paramjit Sarna and Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal.
Delegates were invited to propose alternative names for the post, but with no other nominations put forward, Sukhbir Singh Badal was declared president amidst loud slogans and cheers from the attendees.
Earlier in the session, a series of resolutions were presented and accepted with approval from the delegates. One resolution urged the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht to reconsider the decision to withdraw the Fakhr-e-Qaum award from former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Notably, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami was absent from the session, sparking discussions in Sikh circles.
