Supreme Court orders SIT probe into woman’s alleged murder

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Punjab Police DGP to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged murder of a woman by her husband and his lover.

A bench led by Chief Justice S.S. Koteshwar Singh, along with Justice Surya Kant and Justice N.A., issued the order while hearing a petition filed by the victim’s father challenging the bail granted to his son-in-law.

The court instructed the DGP to constitute a three-member SIT, including two IPS officers and a woman officer, and complete the investigation within three months.

The bench also directed the SIT to submit a report after the probe.
