The ‘AAP’ government increased the registration of laborers three times (50637) during its first year as compared to 2021-22: says AAP MLA
Jalandhar: On the occasion of labour day, the Aam Aadmi Party has saluted the labourers who have contributed significantly in the development of the country and the state. Senior AAP leader and cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said during a press conference in Jalandhar on Monday that the working class of any country and state is an important part of its development.
The AAP leader said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is continuously making efforts for the upliftment and welfare of the labourers here. The Mann Government is implementing various schemes for the working class in the state. He was accompanied by AAP MLA from Jalandhar West Sheetal Angural.
He said that Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the country’s constitution, has also given priority to the labourers in the constitution and he also fought for the labourers during his time. The ‘AAP’ government is also working for the welfare of the labourers in Punjab by following Dr BR Ambedkar’s ideology.
ETO told that while the registration of labourers in the state was 16905 in the year 2021-22 during the previous government, the ‘AAP’ government increased it to 50637 in 22-23. He said that till the working class does not come in the organized sector, they will not be able to get all the benefits and other facilities given by the government.
He further said that during the previous government, only Rs 33 crore 15 lakh was kept for the welfare of the laborers in 2021-22. While the government increased it three times, Rs 102 crore 65 lakh were spent on labourers and deposited in their accounts. Apart from this, 933 camps were organized at various places in the state in the last one year for the registration of labourers. The labourers were registered at their workplace so that transparency could be maintained in the registration and the genuine labourers could be registered.
The Cabinet Minister ETO expressed regret over the removal of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) from NCERT syllabus and said that it has been removed from NCERT due to protests by farmers against agricultural laws. He said that our generation should know about the fight and victory of our farmers and labourers for their rights. This step of NCRT is highly condemnable.
He said that under the guarantee of the AAP government, 600 units of electricity are being given free of cost to the people of the state, due to which electricity bills of almost 90 percent of the households of Punjab are zero. Most of the people in this are from the poor and working class. He said that the upliftment of the working class means upliftment of society.
He said that a decision was taken in the Punjab cabinet recently that along with the compensation given for the crops damaged during natural calamities, some financial assistance should also be given to the labourers working there. For this, the government has fixed ten percent of the compensation amount for the labourers.
