Three sentenced to life imprisonment for murder of Vicky Middukhera
Chandigarh: The Mohali district court on Monday sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of Akali leader Vikramjit Singh, alias Vicky Middukhera, four years ago.
The convicts, identified as Ajay alias Sunny alias Lefty, Sajjan alias Bholu, and Anil Lath, were found guilty of killing the 33-year-old leader in a brazen daylight attack.
The trio, described as sharpshooters and henchmen of gangsters, were convicted under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Arms Act. Each convict was also fined Rs 2 lakh.
The case also involves three jailed gangsters—Bhuppi Rana, Amit Dagar, and Kaushal Chaudhary—who were named as co-conspirators in the murder.
The court has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to take action against absconding suspects in the case.
Vicky’s lawyer, advocate H.S. Dhanoa, highlighted the brutality of the murder, revealing that 15 bullets were fired at Vicky, with 13 piercing his body.
He noted, “It was no ordinary murder. The attack occurred in broad daylight when Vicky was unarmed. We demanded the severest punishment for the culprits.”
While expressing satisfaction with the verdict, Dhanoa stated that the possibility of filing an appeal against the acquittal of other accused individuals will be considered once the judgment is reviewed.
Additionally, he assured that any appeal by the convicted individuals would be contested in the High Court.
