Truckers end strike after government assurance on ‘Hit-and-run’ law’
Movement across the country has been affected as truck drivers have been on strike for the last two days against a provision of new penal law on ‘hit-and-run’ accident cases involving motorists. In view of this, on Tuesday, the government talked to the representatives of the All India Transport Congress.
After discussions with the Home Secretary, the issue of truck drivers seems to have been resolved.
The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) has appealed to the drivers to end their strike and return to work. However, it has said that talks with the government will continue.
AIMTC core committee chairman Bal Malkit said that they have met and talked to the Home Secretary on the issue of Indian Justice Code. Now they have no problem, all issues seem to be resolved.
