Two arrested for attack on Himachal Roadways bus in Mohali

Chandigarh: The Kharar police have arrested two men for attacking a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus in Kharar, Mohali. The arrests were made three days after the incident.

The accused, identified as Gagandeep Singh from Muktsar Sahib and Hardeep Singh from Bhatta Sahib in Ropar, were living in rented accommodation in Mohali.

According to the police, Gagandeep Singh was the mastermind behind the attack. He works as a taxi driver in Mohali, while Hardeep Singh is employed in a private job.

Investigations revealed that Gagandeep was influenced by social media posts about the ongoing dispute between Himachal Pradesh and Punjab over the Bhindranwale flag. He then planned the attack as an act of revenge and involved Hardeep in the execution.

On Tuesday evening, the accused attacked a Himachal Roadways bus traveling from Chandigarh to Hamirpur with sticks near Kharar bus stand, damaging the vehicle. Both were arrested soon after the incident.
