Union budget lacks vision & direction: Bajwa
Strap : Punjab too fails to special financial package
Punjabenews: Senior congress leader & Punjab’s leader of the opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa has termed the budget presented by the union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament today as visionless and directionless.
Bajwa said it was expected by the people of India especially the poor & the underprivileged sections of the society that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the centre in its last general budget before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls would make some special announcements to provide relief to the common man who has been reeling under extreme price rise since the outbreak of covid 19 virus.
However Bajwa said all their hopes were shattered. “ There is nothing for the farmers in this budget and moreover no legal guarantee has been announced for the MSP as expected by the farmers all across India. That’s why the farming community feels completely betrayed and cheated”, added Bajwa.
On top of it the budget has been slashed by more than 10 percent for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act under which the poor people in the rural areas get guaranteed employment. Similarly is the case for the health sector as well.
Bajwa also criticized the budget for its failure to give a special financial package to Punjab. “ In fact the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann has also failed to prevail upon the union government to get some special economic package for the state which is already reeling under huge debt”, added Bajwa.
