Union Minister Bittu visits grenade attack site at Kalia’s house, demands thorough probe

Jalandhar: Union Minister Ravneet Bittu visited the residence of former Punjab minister Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar on Monday, hours after a grenade attack targeted the BJP leader’s house.

Bittu demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and dismissed the theory that drug smugglers could be behind the attack.

“It is not possible for anyone to just carry a grenade in a bag and throw it anywhere. This is serious and needs to be investigated properly,” he said after inspecting the site.

Bittu also raised concerns about internal rifts within the Punjab Police, alleging that two factions were operating separately — one under the influence of AAP’s Delhi leadership and the other aligned with the Punjab unit. He said both groups were undermining each other.

Referring to a recent audio leak involving an IPS officer, Bittu urged authorities to look into it as well.

He blamed the AAP government for its failure to probe recurring grenade and rocket attacks in the state.

“This is a failed government. AAP has destabilised Punjab. We all need to unite for the state’s stability, as we did during the days of terrorism,” he said.
