Mansa: Two youths, including a US-based man, died after their Fortuner vehicle overturned near the old camp in Chakerian village close to Mansa on Thursday night, police said. Two of their friends were injured in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the civil hospital in Mansa.

The deceased have been identified as Gagandeep Singh Manshahia (27), a resident of the US and originally from village Chakerian, and his aunt’s son Aman, a resident of Dhuri. Gagandeep had come to India recently for his wedding, which took place on January 9 in Ludhiana, and was scheduled to return to the US in the coming days. His sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over the village.

In an attempt to avoid hitting them, the vehicle overturned and was severely damaged.

Aman died on the spot, while Gagandeep succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The injured, Harman and Lovejit, are being treated for their injuries. ASI Makhan Singh of Sadar Mansa police station said that the police are taking necessary legal action in the matter.
