Veterinary doctors protest across Punjab over pay parity, services suspended
Chandigarh: Veterinary doctors across Punjab staged protests under the banner of the ‘Joint Action Committee for Pay Parity,’ expressing frustration with the state government’s refusal to restore pay parity with medical officers. The demonstrations were held in veterinary polyclinics in all districts of the state.
As part of the protest, all non-emergency services, including treatment, surgeries, and testing of blood and other samples, were suspended for the day in veterinary hospitals. However, emergency and vetro-legal cases were still attended to.
The one-day dharnas saw participation from veterinary officers, senior veterinary officers, assistant directors, deputy directors, and retired animal husbandry officers.
