Vigilance Bureau arrests private person taking Rs 25000 bribe
Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, on Wednesday, has arrested a private person Ajaib Singh, a resident of Patran town in Patiala district red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the above said accused has been arrested based on a complaint filed by Gopi Chander, resident of same town Patran.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and informed that he is running a hotel Noormahal in the town. The accused and his accomplice Sikandar Singh, a resident of village Dugaal, near Patran town had asked for a bribe of Rs. 25,000 in the name of DSP Patran for smooth running of this hotel.
The spokesperson added that after a preliminary enquiry of this complaint a VB team laid a trap during which the accused Ajaib Singh was nabbed red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 25000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala range and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
