DOCUMENTARY FILM “MOORISH MOSQUE” DEDICATED TO WORLD TOURISM DAY RELEASED BY COMMISSIONER JALANDHAR DIVISION

Film portrays heritage monument of Kapurthala District 

Jalandhar News: In a bid to preserve the rich culture and heritage of the monuments showcasing the history, Commissioner Jalandhar Division Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal today released documentary film and pictorial brochure titled “Moorish Mosque.” 

Giving more information, Mr. Sabharwal said that the documentary portrays architectural marvel and brief background of the significant heritage location “Moorish Mosque”. This documentary film and pictorial brochure is curated by author, heritage promoter, and nature srtist, Harpreet Sandhu with aim to promote Punjab’s diverse and inclusive culture, brought to the forefront through the creative lens capturing the beauty and legacy of the monument.

He further said that the documentary aims to spread awareness among the people of Punjab, especially the younger generation, about the importance of preserving cultural landmarks that form the backbone of the region’s historical identity. This film highlights heritage monument Moorish Mosque, which is inspired by the Grand Mosque of Marrakesh, commissioned by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh and stands as an enduring testament to Punjab’s historical ties with global culture and architectural excellence.

The Commissioner Jalandhar Division after having the preview of the documentary film acknowledged the efforts of Harpreet Sandhu for his dedication and meticulous work in compiling the pictorial art and showcasing the grandeur of this heritage site. 

Mr. Sabharwal said that after watching the documentary film, he realized that Punjab holds a treasure of invaluable heritage, which can be preserved through such efforts. He mentioned that this film is dedicated to World Tourism Day, highlighting the theme of “Tourism and Peace” and raising awareness about the importance of tourism in society, culture, economy, and the environment.

Writer and heritage promoter Harpreet Sandhu shared that his passion for photographing heritage sites inspired him to create the documentary on the Moorish mosque. He stated that he will continue making efforts to preserve the monuments and culture of Punjab in the future.

On this occasion, besides the documentary film, the Divisional Commissioner also released a brochure, including photographs.
