Accompanied by Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurmeet Lal, the Minister assessed the services provided for the treatment of individuals battling substance dependence and sought detailed information from health department officials.

Highlighting the state government’s firm resolve, the Cabinet Minister stated that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, a vigorous campaign against drug abuse is underway. Mr. Bhagat added that under the “Nasha Mukti Yatra,” the Government is not only spreading awareness at a mass level but is also building model sports complexes and libraries to keep the youth away from drugs. He asserted that the state government is working at the grassroots level across villages and wards to eradicate drugs and will soon succeed in restoring Punjab’s vibrant glory.

Encouraging patients at the centre, the Minister urged them to follow medical advice for complete recovery and avoid relapse.
Earlier, he also visited the Civil Hospital and inspected various departments including Emergency, OPD, Registration, and MRD, reviewing the quality of healthcare being provided. He interacted with patients and sought feedback.

Reassuring that patients—ranging from common ailments to cancer—are receiving treatment from specialists, the Minister chaired a meeting with health officials to review available facilities at the hospital. He also directed the Zonal Licensing Authority to maintain strict vigil to prevent the illegal sale of prohibited intoxicating drugs by chemists.
