CONTINUING THE FIGHT: ‘YUDH NASHIYAN VIRUDH’ COMMISSIONERATE POLICE JALANDHAR TARGETS DRUG NETWORKS

Jalandhar News: In a continued effort to combat the growing drug menace, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, has carried out a special Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) across various key locations in the city. This operation is part of the ongoing “Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” (War Against Drugs) initiative, aimed at eliminating the drug trade in Jalandhar.

CP Jalandhar said that a targeted operation was carried out in drug hotspots across the city. A total of 14 intensive raids were conducted, involving 10 GO rank officers along with respective SHOs and 250 police personnel, across four subdivisions of Jalandhar. The operation resulted in the recovery of substantial quantities of illicit substances, including 65 grams of heroin, 620 grams of ganja, and 80 intoxicant tablets. Additionally, police seized ₹33,250 in drug-related money. As part of the crackdown, 8 FIRs were registered, and 9 individuals were arrested for their involvement in the Drug trafficking.

She further said 2 preventive actions were taken, and 1 drug addict was sent to a rehabilitation centre for treatment. The police teams also seized an electronic weighing machine, typically used for measuring drugs, and a Swift car, which was being utilized in the illicit drug trade.

In parallel with these efforts, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar also organized special Drug Awareness Seminars. A total of 12 seminars were held, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse and providing information about rehabilitation centers for drug addicts. During the seminars, the police urged the public to report any drug-related activities immediately. The identities of informants will be kept confidential to encourage greater community participation in this crucial battle.
