Deputy Commissioner Conducted Inspection of Polling Booths

Jalandhar Election News: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal inspected various polling booths to review the voting and counting process. During his visit, he also interacted with voters and expressed gratitude for peacefully casting their vote. Additionally, he encouraged and motivated the election staff.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that elections were held for a total of 137 wards, including 85 wards of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, 13 of Municipal Council Bhogpur, 13 of Municipal Council Goraya, 1 of Municipal Council Phillaur, 11 of Nagar Panchayat Bilga, 13 of Nagar Panchayat Shahkot, and 1 ward of Nagar Panchayat Mehatpur. He mentioned that in 2 wards (Ward No. 1 and 3) of Nagar Panchayat Bilga, unanimous decisions had already been made.

Motivating the election staff at polling booths, the District Election Officer emphasized the significant contribution of election staff in conducting smooth, impartial, and peaceful elections. He also highlighted that approximately 3,000 staff members were deployed for the elections of municipal corporations, councils, and panchayats. Additionally, for security purposes, 3,404 district police officers and personnel were deployed.

Dr. Aggarwal mentioned that in the district, 54.90 percent approximately voting was conducted smoothly and peacefully. Out of this, the voter turnout was 50.27 percent in Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, 71.81 percent in Municipal Council Bhogpur, 65.36 percent in Municipal Council Goraya, 55.92 percent in Municipal Council Phillaur, 66.54 percent in Nagar Panchayat Bilga, 63.90 percent in Nagar Panchayat Shahkot, and 61.55 percent in Nagar Panchayat Mehatpur.
