Sangrur Bypoll: Campaigning ends today, Opposition parties attempt to storm into AAP bastion, Simranjit Mann's popularity graph rises

Punjab E News (Sangrur):-  Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann, two-time MP and oldest candidate, is emerging as main competitor of ruling Aam Aadmi Party's candidate in Sangrur bypoll elections, following his incessant rise of popularity graph in villages this time.

Former IPS officer, Mann who faced back-to-back defeats in the past two decades, has received a sudden spark in the recently held state assembly elections. He performed well from Amargarh assembly seat falls in the Malerkotla district, following farmers protest and support from actor and activists Deep Sidhu.

He is contesting the Sangrur parliament election for the 7th time. Mann is a two-time MP; once from Taran Tarn in 1989, and then from Sangrur in 1999. He has been arrested or detained some 30 times but he has never been convicted.

Campaigning expressively, Mann addressed  gatherings from stages while giving references of actor turned activist Deep Sidhu, who died in a tragic road accident this year, and slain singer Sidhu Moosewala. He stressed to advocate for rights of Sikhs and downtrodden community.

He also mentioned ordeals of operation blue star and events that occurred following the operation, besides highlighting development works carried out by him, when he was MP from Sangrur.

Simranjit Mann's popularity graph has rised after recently held assembly polls in this bypoll too, he is getting immense support from youth and people in rural areas, which has become conundrum for opposition especially AAP, which has been winning this seat since 2014 as incumbent CM Mann remained a two-time MP before winning as MLA three months back.

Meanwhile, campaigning for the bypoll ends today evening and AAP's Gurmail Singh, Congress candidate Dalvir Singh Goldi, BJP candidate Kewal Dhillon and SAD candidate Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana, who is the sister of death row convict Balwant Singh Rajoana are in fray and made it a multi-coroner contest on Sangrur bypoll election.
