Jasprit Bumrah tops ICC rankings, Virat Kohli returns to top 10 after India’s win over Bangladesh
New Delhi: After India’s win over Bangladesh, there has been a major shift in the ICC rankings. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has claimed the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings. Notably, he has overtaken his senior teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to secure first place. In the batting rankings, several Indian players also stand out, with Yashasvi Jaiswal rapidly moving towards the number one spot, and Virat Kohli making a return to the top 10.
The ICC released its latest Test rankings on October 2, where Bumrah climbed to the top position in the bowlers’ rankings, surpassing Ashwin. The off-spinner has now slipped to second place. Interestingly, both Bumrah and Ashwin took 11 wickets each against Bangladesh, with Ashwin being named the Player of the Series. However, Bumrah’s bowling average and economy rate were superior, pushing him to the top. Bumrah holds 870 points in the ICC ratings, just one point ahead of Ashwin, who is at 869. Ravindra Jadeja, with 809 points, is ranked sixth, making it three Indians in the top 10 bowlers.
