Punjab E News (New Delhi):- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged states to cut oil prices. During his interaction with chief ministers on Covid-19, PM Modi has appealed to the states to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) under the spirit of 'cooperative federalism'.
On the ever-rising petrol-diesel prices in the country, PM Modi also referred to states that have reduced VAT on oil prices. On the states that have not reduced VAT during the petrol-diesel hike, PM Modi said, "I am not criticizing anyone, I am just discussing."
Modi said, "Some states have not listened (about reducing VAT on fuel). Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Kerala ignored it due to some reasons. The Prime Minister said that after the centre cut excise duty, some states did not cut taxes on petrol, diesel, it is an injustice to the people.
