Aam Aadmi Party hit back at the governor – he accepted the mistake, he made in the assembly
Why the Governor is silent on the issues of RDF, NHM and BBMB – asks Kang
Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party hit back on the statements of Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit. AAP Punjab’s chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that at the behest of the BJP, the governor is talking about giving Haryana a share in Punjab University.
Addressing the media at AAP Headquarters in Chandigarh after the Governor’s press conference, Malvinder Kang said that today the Governor has officially accepted that it was his mistake not to speak ‘my government’ in the Punjab Assembly.
Kang enumerated the mistakes of the governor and said that he had refused to convene the budget session of the Punjab Assembly, after which the Punjab government had to approach the Supreme Court. Then the court ordered to call the session. Earlier, in September last year, he had also hesitated to allow the special session called by the Punjab government.
Kang questioned the Governor that the way he is speaking on the issue of Panjab University, why does he not speak on the issue of Rural Development Fund (RDF), National Health Mission and BBMB? He said that the central government is trying to destroy the mandi system of Punjab by stopping the funds of RDF. The funds of the National Health Mission have been withheld. But the Governor does not say anything about that.
Kang said that the governor goes to the border area of Punjab, but does not speak anything on the demand for a special package for the farmers there, nor did he ever talk about it. Kang advised the governor and asked him to respect the government elected by the three crore people of Punjab and stop interfering in its day-to-day functioning if he believed in the constitution.
