Centre plans to introduce ‘cashless treatment’ for victims of road accidents across the country
Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has planned to launch cashless treatment facility for road accident victims across the country in three to four months. Inaugurating the event organised by the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), Road Transport and Highways Secretary Anurag Jain said India has the highest number of deaths in road accidents in the world.
Free and cashless medical treatment for victims injured in the accident is part of the amended Motor Vehicles Act 2019 (MVA2019).
Some states have implemented it but now the Ministry of Road Transport in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will implement it fully across the country. He said the facility would be started in three to four months.
