JAKHAR THANKS PM MODI FOR EMERGENCY RELEASE OF RS 218.40 CR TO PUNJAB FOR FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE BY RELAXING
Chandigarh: While extending gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for relaxing existing guidelines for immediate issue of funds to flood-ravaged Punjab for State Disaster Response, the Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar urged state dispensation to not waste any moment now in reaching out to those in distress in rural and urban areas including compensation of Rs. 20,000 per acre to farmers for crop damage.
I request Bhagwant Mann Ji to at once disburse funds given by Centre to provide succour to those adversely impacted by floods; and not wait for Girdawari at this moment, Jakhar said here in a statement adding that immediate tangible relief to each and everyone must be state’s top priority.
Centre has today released funds to states by effecting a relaxation in extant guidelines to provide funds to states immediately in view of heavy rains and associated natural disasters. Punjab has got funds to the tune of Rs. 218.40 Crores for the purpose.
Urging the state government to ward off any laxity in ensuring relief to citizens both in Rural and Urban regions, the veteran leader today assured of all necessary help and assistance from central government. It was Home Minister Amit Shah who had, even before state government realised gravity of disaster, reached out to Chief Minister and assured all help, Jakhar further said.
