During the floods in Kapurthala 300 people evacuated , avoiding any loss of life

Sultanpur Lodhi: Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala Captain Karnail Singh has said that there was no loss of human life during the floods in the district as more than 300 people were evacuated from flood zone.

Taking stock of the work being done to strengthen the embankment of Bandh on Kali Bein near Sarupwal village , Deputy Commissioner said that as soon as the information about water seepage under the Bandh near Sarupwal was received, the drainage department with the support of the local villagers earthen it with sand bags.

On the demand of the people to send sand filled bags , Deputy Commissioner informed that with the cooperation from the officials of the National Highway Authority supply of sand bags starts immediately.

They assured the people that on the instructions of the Punjab government, district administration will provide all possible help to them in this difficult time.

DC appeals people not to believe in rumours

He appealed to the people not to believe in rumors and if any person spreads rumours, he/she would be dealt strictly.

Talking to the people while visiting the villages Takia, Darewal, Bharowana etc., Deputy Commissioner said that as per the information revived , excess water is not being released in the Beas and Sutlej rivers in next few days , would enable the administration to speed up the rehabilitation works .

He also said that 4 trolleys of green fodder and 50 quintals of dry fodder have been distributed to the farmers in the affected villages.

On this occasion, Captain Siddhant , who is supervising the relief operations from Army side , said that to avoid any damage to Bandh , regular patrolling is being done so that immediate action can be taken as per the need.
