Sidhu Moosewala’s father supports MLA Khaira, terms Punjab govt’s action ‘political vendetta’
Chandigarh: Balkaur Singh, the father of the late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, has expressed his support for Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
In a social media post, Balkaur Singh stated that Sukhpal Khaira is unjustly held in custody through fabricated charges intended to trouble the government. He strongly condemns the government’s actions, asserting that it is a blatant act of political vendetta.
Balkaur emphasized that while the government uses its machinery to suppress opposition voices, it has failed to address those who leaked information about his son’s security. Additionally, Balkaur has appealed to the government for justice once again for his son, Shubhdeep.
In 2015, Congress MLA Khaira faced arrest in connection with a drug racket case. Accused of having links to 2 kg of heroin from across the border eight years prior, he obtained bail from the court in that case.
However, shortly after his release, he was arrested on January 4 under sections 195-A and 506 IPC, based on a complaint filed by Ranjit Kaur at the Subhanpur police station.
