Farmers’ protest: Bharat Bandh announced on Feb 16, crucial meeting with Union Ministers today
New Delhi: Twenty-six farmer organizations from Punjab and Haryana have made full preparations for the march to Delhi on February 13. In Punjab, a large number of farmers have started gathering at the Haryana border.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan faction leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan has announced a Bharat Bandh on February 16th. He appealed to all farmer organizations and traders to ensure its success. The Haryana government has tightened security along the borders with Punjab.
Section 144 has been imposed in 15 districts, and mobile internet has been suspended in seven districts. Meanwhile, an important meeting between Union ministers and farmer leaders will take place in Chandigarh on February 12.
The second round of meetings will be held at 5 pm at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
Union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai from the central government, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and ten representatives from different farmer organizations, will attend the meeting.
Earlier, on February 8, a round of meetings between farmer organizations and central ministers was held, in which some demands were accepted, but certain demands, including making MSP a law, could not be agreed upon.”
