BSP breaks ties with SAD, announces to contest elections alone
Chandigarh: On one hand, there is talk of a fresh agreement between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections. Simultaneously, the Shiromani Akali Dal’s partner, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has severed ties with them. The BSP leadership has instructed its workers to distance themselves from Akali Dal leaders and has announced its intention to contest the elections independently.
This issue was deliberated upon at a meeting of the BSP’s state unit held in Chandigarh, with responsible members of the BSP committee in attendance.
Randhir Singh Benipal, the BSP’s central coordinator for Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana, was prominently present during the four-hour-long meeting.
It was unanimously decided during the meeting that the Shiromani Akali Dal’s continuous alignment with the Bharatiya Janata Party, while disregarding the BSP, leaves no room for continued partnership.
