Farmers postpone march to Delhi for 3 days, to take fresh call on Shubhkaran’s bhog

Chandigarh: March 1st marks the 18th day of the farmers’ agitation at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Punjab-Haryana, centered around various demands, including MSP.

Following the passing of Shubhkaran Singh, the farmers had deferred the decision regarding their march to Delhi until February 29th. However, today, no new announcements were made concerning the farmers’ planned march to Delhi.

Now, the farmers will only decide to proceed after his bhog ceremony. Farmer leaders Sarwan Pandher and Jagjit Dallewal said that the final ardas (prayer) will take place on March 3rd for the spiritual peace of Shubhkaran. Only after this ceremony will a decision regarding further action be made. Shubhakaran’s last rites were performed on February 29th.

In the meantime, there is a possibility of all farmer organizations uniting on a single platform to address their demands. This possibility arises as the six-member coordination committee of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has initiated collaboration with the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, both of which are marching towards Delhi.

Furthermore, a six-member coordination committee will be established comprising representatives from both the Pandher and Dallewal groups, as well as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.

The members of this committee have been finalized, and they will convene on Friday. Satnam Singh Pannu, a state leader of the Kisan Sangharsh Committee, confirmed that discussions have taken place, leading to the formation of this coordination committee encompassing both SKM and KMM.
