Congress MLA Rajkumar Chabbewal resigns, joins AAP
Chandigarh: The Congress has suffered a major setback as Congress Legislature Party Deputy Leader and Chabbewal MLA Dr. Rajkumar has resigned from the party and his MLA post.
Following this, he visited the Chief Minister’s residence and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). CM Mann warmly welcomed him into the party, and the AAP plans to nominate him for the MP election from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Rajkumar Chabbewal has twice been elected as MLA from Chabbewal on a Congress ticket. In the last assembly elections, only Rajkumar Chabbewal of the Congress won in Hoshiarpur.
Chabbewal is widely recognized as a prominent leader of the Dalit community and has served as the state president of the SC cell of Punjab Pradesh Congress for an extended period.
Although he contested the last Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket, he lost to BJP’s Som Parkash. Dr. Chabbewal is a renowned radiologist in Doaba and operates several centers. His father is a former soldier.
