Former MP’s wife quits Congress; Himachal Congress co-incharge joins BJP
Chandigarh: The Congress has experienced a significant setback amidst the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. Karmjeet Kaur Chaudhary, the wife of former Congress MP from Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary, and Himachal Congress co-incharge Tejinder Singh Bittu have joined the BJP in Delhi.
Karmjeet Kaur Chaudhary was vying for the Lok Sabha ticket from Jalandhar, but the Congress sidelined her and given the ticket to former CM Charanjit Channi. Channi lost by two seats in the assembly elections.
Interestingly, MP Santokh Chaudhary, the husband of Karmjeet Kaur Chaudhary, passed away during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
In the by-election, the Congress had nominated Karmjeet Kaur, but she lost to AAP’s Sushil Rinku. However, now Sushil Rinku has also joined the BJP.
