Man from Khanna arrested at Delhi airport after returning from Canada following 12 years
New Delhi: A resident of Mullanpur village under Payal police station in Khanna district was arrested at Delhi airport upon returning from Canada after nearly 12 years.
The accused, Jatinder Singh, was wanted in an assault case from 2007, and a Lookout Circular (LoC) had been issued against him. Singh was declared a proclaimed offender after he failed to appear in court and remained absent for consecutive dates following initial appearances.
Jatinder Singh was taken into custody and presented in Payal court, which subsequently ordered his transfer to Ludhiana jail.
Payal police station SHO, Sandeep Kumar, shared that Singh had previously been granted bail in a case registered on April 28, 2007, under Sections 323, 324, 148, and 149 of the IPC. However, he stopped attending court proceedings and was declared a proclaimed offender approximately 12 years ago.
Kumar added that Singh had managed to reach Canada by falsifying his verification process. Once authorities discovered his location, an LoC was issued.
Upon his arrival at Delhi airport, police apprehended Singh, and Khanna police were notified. A team from Khanna was dispatched to bring Singh back to Punjab, where he now faces further legal action.
