SAD cautions central government over china’s attempt to eliminate sikh history from Eastern India

Punjab E News: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Gurjeet Singh Talwandi today presented historical evidence regarding Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Udasis’ ’ to the North East while making out a case for doing justice to the Sikh community by repatriating Gurudwara Dongmar Sahib in Sikkim to the community.

Addressing a press conference here that SAD leader said since the matter was sub judice the Sikkim High court had ordered the aggrieved parties to come up with an amicable solution before next hearing on 18.08.2023.

“Inspite of the pendency of the dispute before the High Court, Tseten Tashi Bhutia(Member minority commission,Government of India has presented a fresh memorandum to the Sikkim Governor a  few days back seeking construction of Buddhist Shrine in total indifference to the concerns and demands of Sikh’s.”

Gurjit Talwandi said “ China is making malicious attempts to culturally isolate the region by removing all references to Sikh history in the region and other religious linkages of the north east with the rest of the country”. Further highlighting the sensitivity in the region especially in light of the Dokhlam stand off, Mr Talwandi said the removal of Sikh historical shrines in the region will serve to perpetuate Chinese propaganda and is part of the maoist design to eradicate Sikh or Hindu heritage links in the region”.

Talwandi further said BJP’s silence over the issue was promiscuous and had hurt the sentiments of Sikhs, especially after the unceremonious, illegal and disrespectful removal of Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji from Gurudwara Dongmar Sahib by certain criminal elements working as propagandists of the PLA.

He also pointed out that the BJP had willingly or unwillingly fallen into the Chinese trap especially after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman openly supported one side to the issue on her social media handles which were later removed after the SGPC objected to it as the matter is subjudice.
