High Court allows Diljit Dosanjh’s Chandigarh show with conditions
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted permission for Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s show in Sector 34, scheduled for Saturday, while directing strict adherence to noise pollution norms.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetrapal mandated that the event must ensure sound levels do not exceed 75 decibels. The court warned of penal action against the organizers if the permissible limit is violated.
The ruling came during a hearing on a public interest litigation filed by a lawyer representing the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The petition highlighted concerns about safety, environmental pollution, and potential violation of fundamental rights during events at the Sector 34 exhibition ground, including those held on December 7 and the upcoming event on December 14.
The court stressed the need for compliance to prevent disruption while allowing the much-anticipated event to proceed.
