Congress remembers Santokh Singh Chaudhary on his birth anniversary

Jalandhar News: The Congress party leaders remembered Late Member of Parliament, Santokh Singh Chaudhary on his 77th birth anniversary today.

His wife, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, along with her son, Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Jalandhar (Urban) District Congress president Rajinder Beri, Nakodar constituency in charge Dr Navjot Dahiya, former mayor Jagdish Raja and large number of former councillors, sarpanches and Congress supporters paid floral tributes to the senior leader at his memorial in the family’s native village Dhaliwal.

 

Late Santokh Singh Chaudhary had passed away during Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Phillaur on January 14 this year.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Congress leadership said that Chaudhary Santokh Singh Chaudhary was a visionary leader whose loyalty to the party and contribution towards the development of Jalandhar district will always be remembered.

  They said he was an immensely popular leader who was always concerned about public welfare, especially the welfare of the marginalised and downtrodden sections of the society, and he took even his last breath amid his constituents.

During his political career, Chaudhary Santokh Singh served as a cabinet minister twice in the Punjab government, holding several portfolios and was elected twice to Lok Sabha from the Jalandhar constituency.

Jalandhar West block president Harish Dhall, former councillors Pawan Kumar, Tarsem Lakhotra, Bachan Lal and Jagdish Samrai, senior Congress leader Gulzari Lal, Phillaur Congress city president Balak Ram, Awadan sarpanch Darshan, Nirmal Singh Ghakhal, Trar sarpanch Kuldeep, Ali Chak sarpanch Mota Singh, Master Sodhi Ram, Sodhi Dhaliwal Kadian, Munish Pahwa, Kuldeep Kaur Ghakhal, Meenu Bagga, Narinder Pehalwan, Dr. Ashwani Ashu and Gurpreet Singh Johal Apra were among those present on this occasion.
