Haryana youth stabbed to death in Australia

New Delhi: A 22-year-old MTech student from Haryana’s Karnal was allegedly stabbed to death during a fight between some Indian students in Australia, police said on Monday.

Another student was injured in the incident. According to Yashvir, a relative of the deceased, Navjit Sandhu was attacked with a knife by another student when he tried to intervene in a dispute between some Indian students over rent issues.

Navjeet was a brilliant student and was supposed to visit his family for a holiday in July.

He had gone to Australia on a study visa about one-and-a-half years ago in November 2022 and his father, a farmer, sold one-and-a-half acres of land and sent him abroad for studies.

The family has appealed to the Indian government to help bring them back to the country at the earliest.
