Labourer killed, another injured in accident involving actress Urmila Kothare’s car

Mumbai: A labourer was killed, and another sustained serious injuries after a car driven by Marathi actress Urmila Kothare collided with them in Mumbai’s Kandivali East during the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred near the Poinsar metro station, where the workers were engaged in metro rail construction work.

According to an official from the Samta Nagar police station, Kothare’s car lost control and struck the labourers shortly after midnight as she was returning home from a shoot.

The actress and her driver also sustained injuries but were saved by the timely deployment of the vehicle’s airbags. Preliminary investigations suggest the car was speeding, which caused the driver to lose control.

A case has been registered against the driver, and further investigation is underway. Kothare, known for her roles in Marathi films like Duniyadari and the Hindi film Thank God, has not yet commented on the incident.
