Former PM Manmohan Singh’s ashes immersed in Yamuna as per Sikh rituals

New Delhi: The ashes of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were immersed in the Yamuna river near Majnu Ka Tila Gurdwara today, following Sikh traditions. The ceremony was attended by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their daughters, Upinder Singh, Daman Singh, and Amrit Singh.

The family collected the ashes from Nigambodh Ghat earlier in the day and performed the immersion ritual at Astha Ghat. They have planned an Akhand Path at their official residence, 3 Motilal Nehru Marg, starting January 1.

The bhog, final ardas, and kirtan ceremony will take place on January 3 at Gurdwara Rakabganj near the parliamentary complex.

Dr. Singh passed away on December 26 at AIIMS Delhi at the age of 92 after battling age-related ailments. His funeral, held on Saturday at Nigambodh Ghat, was attended by prominent figures from India and abroad.
