MP Amritpal Singh and terrorist Arsh Dalla booked under UAPA in Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau murder case
Chandigarh: Punjab MP Amritpal Singh Khalsa and Canada-based terrorist Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, have been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the murder of Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, a youth linked to sect organizations. The Faridkot district police informed the court of this development, marking a significant escalation in the case.
Gurpreet Singh, the former finance secretary of Waris Punjab, was killed by bike-borne shooters in his village on October 9, 2024. Following the death of Waris Punjab Sanstha’s chief, actor Deep Sidhu, Amritpal Singh assumed leadership of the organization.
However, Hari Nau distanced himself from the group due to disagreements with Amritpal Singh over its activities.
During the investigation, police identified Amritpal Singh, currently in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), and Arsh Dalla as key conspirators in the murder. Both have now been officially named as accused.
Police have also apprehended several individuals in connection with the case, including two shooters who were killed in an encounter, three individuals involved in reconnaissance, and six other suspects.
The UAPA charges have been added to the case as police prepare to file the charge sheet.
The move is expected to intensify legal challenges for Amritpal Singh, whose alleged involvement in extremist activities has drawn significant attention.
