Modi government announces 8th Pay Commission to revise salaries and pensions

New Delhi: The Narendra Modi-led government has announced the formation of the 8th Pay Commission to revise salaries of central government employees and pensioners’ allowances.

The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the development, stating that a chairman and two members for the commission will be appointed soon.

The 7th Pay Commission, formed in 2016, will conclude its term in 2026.
