Disgruntled Akali leaders meet Akal Takht Jathedar over SAD recruitment panel

Amritsar: Discontented Akali leaders met Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on Thursday, demanding the activation of the seven-member recruitment committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

The delegation, comprising Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Santa Singh Umaidpuri, and Bhai Manjit Singh, expressed dissatisfaction with the SAD leadership, accusing it of not adhering to Akal Takht’s directives.

After the meeting, Wadala revealed that the Jathedar reiterated the need for the seven-member committee, constituted by the Akal Takht, to handle recruitment matters.

A letter addressed to SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been submitted, urging him to convene a meeting of the committee under his leadership.

Wadala further said that steps are being taken to address the issue, with plans to meet the SGPC president soon to ensure the committee becomes operational.
