PM Modi praises Election Commission in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ ahead of National Voters’ Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, commended the Election Commission for leveraging technology to empower citizens and ensure fair elections.

Typically aired on the last Sunday of each month, the programme was broadcast earlier this time due to the upcoming Republic Day.

Highlighting the National Voters’ Day observed on January 25, Modi lauded the Election Commission’s efforts to modernise and strengthen the electoral process over time.

His remarks come amid ongoing opposition scrutiny of electronic voting machines (EVMs), which some interpret as an endorsement of their reliability.

Addressing India’s democratic journey, the Prime Minister noted that initial doubts about the country’s viability as a democracy post-independence were proven wrong. “India is the mother of democracy,” he stated.
