Padma Awards 2025 announced: 139 recipients across three categories

New Delhi: The government has announced the Padma Awards 2025, one of India’s highest civilian honors, on the eve of Republic Day. A total of 139 awards have been approved by the President, categorized into seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honors.

 

Notable recipients:

Padma Vibhushan: Former Chief Justice (Retd.) Jagdish Singh Khehar from Chandigarh.

Padma Shri: Harjinder Singh Srinagarwale (Art, Punjab), Onkar Singh Pahwa (Trade and Business), Haryana’s para-athlete Harvinder Singh, and writer Sant Ram Deswal.

The awards recognize contributions across various fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science, trade, medicine, literature, education, sports, and civil service.

The honors will be presented by the President of India in a formal ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, typically held in March or April each year.
