Donald Trump appeals conviction in hush money case
Washington: US President Donald Trump has filed an appeal against his conviction in the hush money case, seeking to overturn the verdict issued by a New York court.
Trump’s legal team submitted the appeal on Wednesday to a mid-level New York court, challenging last month’s ruling. The former president has also hired new lawyers to lead his defense.
Trump was indicted on January 9 but was not sentenced. A sentencing could have led to a political crisis, as he was set to be sworn in as president in the coming days.
Trump was the first US president to be convicted in a criminal case.
