Five days before Delhi polls, seven AAP MLAs resign over ticket denial

New Delhi: Five days ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, seven sitting MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have resigned, citing denial of tickets and allegations of corruption within the party.

Naresh Yadav, a two-time MLA from Mehrauli, stated that AAP was founded to fight corruption but has now “fallen into the quagmire of corruption.”

Another leader, Rohit Mehrauli, blamed “the wrong policies of Arvind Kejriwal” for his resignation, adding that party leaders showed no concern over his departure.

AAP had released four candidate lists between November 21 and December 15, dropping 26 sitting MLAs and changing the seats of four others. Delhi is set to vote on February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.
