Giani Harpreet Singh accuses SAD of bogus recruitments, hints at political entry

Amritsar: Giani Harpreet Singh, jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, has said that while he considers himself a student of religion, he is prepared to enter politics if compelled by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Singh made the remarks after a meeting of the seven-member committee formed by SAD on Thursday.

He criticized SAD as a “fugitive party” for allegedly defying the orders of the Akal Takht and accused the party of conducting fake recruitments. He claimed that despite receiving only 18 lakh votes in the recent parliamentary elections, the party was falsely showing recruitment numbers of 35 lakh.

Singh urged the seven-member monitoring committee to proceed with the recruitment process for SAD as per the Akal Takht’s orders, even with a smaller group, dismissing claims that SAD’s working president, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, was invited to the meeting.

The controversy follows Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Giani Raghbir Singh’s statement supporting Giani Harpreet Singh and opposing his dismissal from services.
